This week we worked with our beaded number lines, 3-D shapes, 2-D shapes in math. In Language Arts we worked on parts of speech including nouns and verbs. We had a lot of fun acting out different verbs and finding nouns in the classroom. Just a reminder that on Tuesday, December 10th is our Winter Concert. Please have your child come to school with their concert costume for the dress rehearsal at 9:00am. Also the students need to be at school for 6:00pm dressed in their concert costumes that evening. We can't wait to show you how well we can act, sing, and dance!

This week we have been busy putting the finishing touches on our stories, learning about 2-d shapes, story maps, magnets and the songs for our holiday concert that is fast approaching. The holiday concert is on December 10th. More information to follow.
Also our school is collecting food for the food bank. If you could bring in a non-perishable food item that would be wonderful!
Have a good long weekend!

This week we have been very busy. We have learned about patterns, representing numbers in a variety of ways, First Nations people and early settlers. In art we drew grasshoppers and used chalk pastels to colour our drawings. We have also written a story and are working on the good copy to share at conferences next week. Please remember to sign up for conferences, the website is open. To do so go to your MyCBE account.

Exploring mass and number bead lines
This week we finished our mass theme for first term and began to work with the number bead lines that we created with our grade 4 buddies last week. We also experimented with magnets and how they can sometimes go through objects. We had a great time making a paper clip into a magnet.

Measurement in grade 2
Today we spent a lot of time measuring different objects in the classroom with unification cubes. Sometimes they had a set amount of cubes to use and other times they could pick anything and measure it.

Heritage Park
We had a great time at Heritage Park. Here are some of the highlights of our day:
-We got to play with toys from the past, it was really hard to get the ball into the cup!
-We got to dress up like we were some of the first settlers to Calgary
-We were able to visit a trading post and find out what we could get for a beaver pellet
-We tried a traditional Metis food used by many settlers and aboriginals from the past called bannock
-We saw and held many artifacts from house object, hospital equipment and even a buffalo hide
It was a fantastic day! A big thank you to the volunteers who were able to come help us on our trip.
